Today started our pretty serene. I was quite enjoying it, actually. There was the peskiness of kids being grounded to their rooms till the rooms were clean,but all in all, it was a good day. That is until the Wild Child tells me that the youngest has poked a hole in her pillow with a pencil. Thinking this is not a huge deal, I tell the Wild Child to bring me the pencil. Problem solved, right? WRONG!!!!! Apparently, it was a down feather pillow. The Wild Child decides then to rip the sucker open and spread the feathers like snow. I have no idea how I will ever get them all cleaned up. I am open to any and all suggestions! I tried the vacuum cleaner and successfully broke it, the feathers stick to everything. I have no idea of how to get it out of their hair. I keep telling myself that it is just another day in paradise. Right?

i'm not laughing. I'm dying for you because in my emotional state something like that would literally reduce me to tears!
if you spray them a little with a spray bottle does it make them so they don't fly around quite as badly?
I'm still leaning towards a leaf blower/sucker to do the job of cleaning them up. Good luck!!!!!
Well, here is my 2 cents for what they are not worth. I would go with a shop vac. You will have to take the filter out often and clean it (they typically are designed to be used more than once). Before you dump the shop vac I would put some water on the feathers to keep them all from turning into a white out condition again.
Years from now you'll all look back and laugh at the memory of this and many other such incidents to come. The really amazing part is... eveyone will have a slightly different version of each.
Oh Karen... I feel for you. As if a mom doesn't have enough to do, without clean feathers for forever!!! It makes me glad I'm allergic to feather pillows. None in my house.
