Yesterday there were lay-offs in my husbands company. I can't help but think about those families who now are wondering what is next for them. Up until yesterday morning, I feared a lay-off like any other SAHM. Somehow yesterday morning after many sleepless hours because of an unwanted dream, I came to terms with a lay-off. In fact, I wanted it. It would mean a new adventure. A new start. It wasn't us though. I am afraid that it was another family craving the security a job brings. Funny how life is always throwing you curve balls.
My bloggy friend Nancy, who is almost my neighbor as of a few months back, so eloquently said what I am feeling, though, they are her feelings. We must be drinking the same water.

Yah, it looks like we are drinking the same water (by the by is it flouridated?) :) I mean what kind of crazy people would want instability and uncertainty? Sigh. Anywho, sorry I wrote your entire post before you got the chance.
Scary times. It makes my heart hurt.
I'm not sure what we would do if we were faced with a layoff. I mean, yes it would open other opportunities, but it is still so daunting for me to look at.

Funny. My husband was saying just this evening that a lay-off would jump start a new adventure for him. Being in higher ed, a lay-off is unlikely, but the thought that he could launch into something different is tantalizing right now. I hope some of those families feel the same way.

So many friends have been laid off. I really feel for them. Although we won't be laid off - the economy certainly does affect farming.

I don't know that I want my hubby laid off but I am ready for something new. I was telling Mike just this week that I feel so stagnant. This is the longest I've ever stayed in one place without any major life changes and it's frankly getting kind of boring around here.
It's very scary, isn't it? We're fairly secure in our jobs, but the workload grows exponentially as others are laid off, making work unbearably stressful.
