has turned the backyard into a mud pit, crushed a basket of cinnamon scented pine cones in my living room, broken the very expensive wood blinds in that room, clogged the main floor toilet with who knows what, pulled all of his sister's clothes out of her drawer, colored on my table and chairs with black crayon, ran the ice and water dispenser on the fridge without a cup, letting it hit the floor and laughing about it. Wait.....I'm still not done. He has stuck food to the sofa in the family room, taken out DVD's and left them strewn all over the house, helped himself to the pretzels in the pantry, spilling the contents all over the house. It's not like he's being malicious. He just thinks life is one big science experiment right now.
Can any one tell me.......will I survive this? Will he?

Oh yeah, I know this all too well. Yup thats a boy. I think that my son is younger than yours and I have survived so far and from what my hubby tells me, this is only the beginning. I guess it kinda gets worse as they get older.
Hang in there and put away all the stiff that means something to you. Sorry I am not much more help.
I must have a really mellow child, because he hasn't hit that stage yet. I have heard of it though. It does remind me of something that may help! This is not to really compare a child to a problem dog, but... have you seen the show The Dog Whisperer? In the show this guy visits people with problem dogs. Mostly they behave badly, bark too much, chew things up and won't settle down. Here is his take. People give too many treats first and expect the dog to behave because he got a treat. Well according to him you have to exercise the dog first, then discipline and redirection, then treat. We did try this with our dog (not our son), and it worked really well. The problem is that by the time we did all that walking with our dog, we were also to tired to misbehave and that took all the fun out of it. So he is back to chewing and jumping and we are having fun. You could try the first part and see. I cant imagine that he would have much energy after keeping up with his sisters though. Okay, sorry, I don't think I can help you!
Wait. Did he do all of this TODAY? If not, it's just being a boy. Did I say that with a straight face? Mph! My last child was that kind of destructive. Duct tape, girlfriend. Duct tape.
Wow - my son is not there yet but I suspect it is not far away. Once he is tall enough to open doors I think it is on. Good luck surviving this period - I am cheering you on!
Or you could just throw a newspaper at him to show him who's boss! Ha!
He's just being a boy, sorry. We've got 3 of those things living here. The good news is that you'll survive. On the worst days it's debatable if he will. But your home will never be the same.
I say you will survive, he won't, and neither will anything nice in your house. My oldest has a mild temperament and I don't expect this kind of behavior from him. But the youngest is another story. He's only 1 and already I see the wheels churning. When he waits for me to be watching him, THEN throws the entire bowl of apple sauce off his high chair try onto the floor and then grins and me and giggles I know I'm in for a wild ride as he ages!
And here's my plug for my flickr photo group, Misadventures in Motherhood You should be documenting all those, um, misadventures and post them to the group!
You better survive because I have a kid just like that only younger. If you succumb, I know that I will too. Fight on Sister Woman!
the real question is, "Can HE survive..." haha, boys will be boys but each one is different. I know a few little girls who could even give him a run for the money!
Great post!
Is my husband living with you? Because he can turn a clean house upside down in a matter of hours. I play softball monday nights. I leave at 6:00 and the house is tidy. I get home and its a huge mess. How can one person do that much damage in three hours is beyond me.
Wow, I have no idea if you'll survive. Makes me glad I have girls so far, lol!
i'm not sure, but i think you are talking about my daughter! ha!
my number 1...she was so clam and i thought it was good parenting. turns out that was a big fat no!
anyway, they are only little one. clean up the DVD, grab a cup of starbucks and laugh at it. your house will again be clean when they go to college...
and, yes, i do Jada's hair. she loves it beaded, so we do that a lot.
I'm not sure how old he is...but boys are rambunctious. I've found out that they need lots of physical exercise, or the house gets torn apart, intentionally or unintentionally. So, I put my boys in sports. Boys are just very physical and they need an outlet. So, either send him outside with a ball or a jump rope or a bike or put him in sports! It will help tremendously, I promise. It won't solve everything but it will help!!
I've too done the cat burrito! And that's when I decided to let the vet deal with it!!!
Since Tails wouldn't take the pills the vet would give him a shot of medicine that was the same thing. Basically it was Tumbs! I'll prolly have to take him in for another one tomorrow!
Thanks for stopping by! I'm glad you found me too! Sorry if my post had way too much to think about in it, but I guess I'm stuck without much to do but think!! I guess there are worse things I could be doing. Your story about your son is hilarious! Sorry, because I'm sure it's all true!! You'll survive it somehow. I'm not sure how, but we all manage some way!! I'll be back soon! Come back to see me!
That can't possibly be MY son. He'd never do that.
